My favourite season in Ottawa
is autumn. The brilliant colours of the oaks and maples never fail to
lift my heart. The extreme heat and humidity of mid-summer is past.
Daytime temperatures are pleasant. Nights are crisp and cool. The sky
is a deep and brilliant blue never seen at other times of the year.
Even the dogs love autumn. They tunnel through the piles of
fallen leaves with their noses, searching out odorous treasures. They
love bounding
through the mounds of leaves along the paths and under the trees. The
sounds of the migratory birds flying overhead excite them. The
increased bustle of the squirrels, preparing for winter, drives them
wild.
