Ottawa in Summer

Even though the Ottawa region is home to more than one million people, one never feels too far away from the beauty of nature. We enjoy seeing the rabbits, racoons, groundhogs and squirrels that visit our garden. On the side of the highway only a few kilometres out of town one can often see deer, and occasionally even a moose.

On hot summer days people gravitate to water be it a swimming pool, the Ottawa River, Rideau River, Rideau Canal, or one of the many lakes and other rivers within an hour drive from downtown. We are fortunate to have so many natural and man-made bodies of water close by, although it does mean that we have lots of mosquitoes. Enjoy the out of doors, but don't forget your sun screen and insect repellent.
